Three years after its eponymous exhibition in the grande galerie, Impasse des Lilas looks back at MBL's production and theoretical universe. Part exhibition catalogue, part monograph, the book explores the interweaving of theories, personal histories, objects and projects that define the practice of the agency founded by Benjamin Lafore and Sébastien Martinez-Barat.

The impasse des Lilas is a dead-end street on the edge of a urban area. There are 841 impasses des Lilas in France, and several thousand others named after flowers. There are no lilacs, just a uniform amalgam of domestic life, architecture and random landscapes. In this new edition, published by Accattone (Brussels) and arc en rêve (Bordeaux), these cul-de-sacs become a theoretical point of view from which to think about architecture today.

Conceived as a science-fiction story, the book brings together around a hundred objects taken from the productions and research of MBL, guest artists and architects, a selection of everyday objects, exhibition photographs by Antoine Espinasseau and contributions from international theorists Alexandra Midal, Thomas Daniell and Philip Ursprung.
